Behind the project

Built for a question:
what's slowing us down?

Niffelen is a small independent exploration of network performance — the invisible systems that shape the way online games feel.

What Niffelen is

Online games depend on more than a powerful computer and a fast internet plan. Packets cross local networks, ISP infrastructure and distant services before the next moment appears on your screen.

Niffelen exists to make that journey more understandable through simple tools, thoughtful explanations and practical experiments.

What we're focused on

  • Connection clarity: understand latency, timing variation and stability without turning every issue into a mystery.
  • Honest measurements: explain exactly what a tool does — and what it cannot prove.
  • Practical changes: prioritize repeatable tests and reversible improvements over exaggerated promises.

What Niffelen isn't

We're not a game publisher, ISP, network optimizer or a service promising to lower everyone's ping. The tools here are for education and basic diagnostics. Results depend on each user's network and destination.

Designed to stay light

This website uses static pages, minimal JavaScript and no third-party analytics embedded by the project. It is intended to remain useful on slow connections as well as fast ones.
